External Use Only
While our soaps smell terrific and sometimes even delicious, they are for external use only, specifically for skin or hair. While a small amount is not likely to be harmful (how many of us have memories of a parent washing our mouth out with soap?), if a large amount of soap is ingested, to be safe, call your poison control hotline immediately with the ingredients list on the packaging. Prevent accidental ingestion by keeping soap out of reach of children and pets.
Allergies
Handmade soap is much gentler on skin than commercial soaps because they have far fewer chemicals, preservatives and other questionable ingredients. So individuals that react negatively to commercialized soaps frequently find relief by switching to homemade soap.
We try to avoid ingredients that are known to be irritating to skin; however, we cannot account for every known allergy (there are even documented cases of individuals being allergic to water). A little common sense goes a long way when it comes to using homemade soaps. If you have a known allergy, carefully read the labels, and avoid those that contain any ingredients that you know or suspect that you have an allergy to. Also be aware that it is possible to suddenly react to an ingredient that you've used before without any problems. At any time while using our soaps, if you notice redness or irritation, rinse thoroughly with clean water and discontinue using the soap immediately.
